Dear Secretary Alex Azar,
As we look to the future of health care transformation, we believe a core element to advance innovation is the ability to safely and securely move information throughout the health care system. Therefore, we applaud you for your work to advance a rule that will increase health data interoperability around the country.
As leaders of health innovation programs, we hear daily from innovators and entrepreneurs who are ready and able to help the health care system evolve. Regardless of location, one of the consistent barriers to advancing change in our health care system is the ability to share data. Creating an interoperable system will enable our stakeholders to help find and create better solutions to some of our most complex challenges which has the promise to reduce cost and improve care.
The current status quo has proven to be inefficient and ineffective and will continue to build barriers between individuals’ own data and their health and wellbeing. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to advancing interoperability. We look forward to continuing our work with you to unlock the country’s spirit of innovation, supporting the creation of a better health care system together.
