Medical Alley, Minnesota (March 12, 2020) – In a remarkable feat, Mayo Clinic has developed a new, faster test for COVID-19. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Mayo Clinic Laboratories has worked nonstop to create the test, a process that would normally take months or longer.
Mayo Clinic’s initial capacity will deliver 200-300 tests daily. Mayo Clinic is providing support and investing in equipment and materials to increase that capacity in the coming weeks. The Mayo test can produce results in hours, much faster than the days required for most current test methods.
