IPM Earns 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award

March 12

Distinguished Recognition for Performance Excellence in Seven Categories

Burr Ridge, IL (November 15, 2018) Integrated Project Management Company, Inc. (IPM) is proud to announce it has achieved the 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive.

IPM is one of five organizations to win the 2018 Award. The MBNQA is granted annually to American organizations in six categories to raise awareness of quality management and excellence in quality systems, based on the systems perspective, core concepts and values of the Baldrige Excellence Framework. IPM will receive this Presidential-level honor in the Small Business category at a ceremony during the 31st annual Quest for Excellence® Conference in April 2019.

This prestigious national Award follows affiliate Baldrige Program recognition IPM received in 2017 at the state level with the 2017 ILPEx Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence

Rigorously judged by the MBNQA’s independent board of examiners, IPM successfully demonstrated its outstanding practices, outcomes and continuous improvement systems for each of the seven performance excellence criteria:

  • Leadership
  • Strategy
  • Customer Relationship
  • Measurement
  • Workforce Empowerment
  • Operations
  • Results

In all, 27 organizations were finalists for the 2018 Award. IPM was one of only 12 to move forward for an on-site evaluation, culminating in its selection as an Award winner. IPM now joins the vaulted ranks of 123 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winners granted since the program was established by Congress in 1987 – and is only the fifth consulting firm to earn the distinction.

“Achievement of this recognition is indisputable external validation of the passionate focus we have applied to establishing, growing, and sustaining a company that is driven

by our values-based culture, obsession with high quality, and a commitment to creating

a customer experience differentiated by professional conduct and performance that is second to none,” says C. Richard Panico, IPM’s Founder, President and CEO.

A History of Elevated Skills, High-Impact Client Results

From IPM’s beginning in 1988, Panico instilled a values- and ethics-based culture; advanced project management practices; and comprehensive operations and growth structures that, in hindsight, all link directly to the Malcolm Baldrige Excellence Framework.

“Our Fundamental Values of Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence, Caring, Humility, and Respect rest on the foundation of Spirituality….a belief in a Higher Power,” says Panico. “These values have provided a “true north” enabling us to set direction and make decisions that serve the greater good, create a highly collaborative “family” environment, and motivate us to continually learn and evolve so that we can continue on our journey to achieve 100 years and beyond.” By expressing these values through work product and conduct, he adds, IPM’s impact has not only benefitted clients, but also the communities surrounding its seven office locations nationwide.

IPM was the first company in the U.S. to provide dedicated, professional project management services with a distinct focus on execution against strategies – a crucial aspect of achieving any goal, and one that was missing from many business consultancies that primarily provide strategic planning services.

The company has since broadened and deepened its practice of project management to ‘Project Leadership’ and today considers itself a business consulting firm, deploying its core competencies of process, discipline, and leadership to solve business problems and plan and execute strategically important initiatives. IPM’s performance and customer satisfaction levels are validated, for example, by its Net Promoter Score of 61, which exceeds the “World Class” benchmark of 50 – one of numerous quality measures detailed in IPM’s Award application (see Performance Excellence Measures, Figure A).

IPM’s ability to achieve results for its clients, and for itself, is reflected in these exemplary measures. View the full company profile on the Malcolm Baldrige website.

Execution competency, subject matter expertise, problem-solving dexterity and conduct aligned with the company’s Fundamental Values have led IPM to compete successfully with large consulting firms while distancing its services from staffing firms, independent

consultants, and boutique firms. IPM’s Centers of Excellence – each built from the original foundation of strategy execution – are now tapped by several of the biggest companies in the world for solving critical problems and achieving priority initiatives.
