Medical Alley, MN – The Medical Alley Association has announced that Shaye Mandle, who served as the association’s President & CEO since 2014, will join the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) as the Chief Operating Officer in Washington, DC, starting March 1, 2021.

“Under Shaye’s transformational leadership, the Medical Alley Association has become one of the most influential healthcare organizations in the nation,” said Medical Alley Board Chair James Rogers, Chief Business Development Officer of Mayo Clinic. “Thanks to his vision, Medical Alley is a well-established force in the field, and we wish him all the best as he continues to advance the innovation that benefits humanity. He will be a great addition to the BIO team.”

“Leading Medical Alley has been the most extraordinary professional experience of my life,” said Shaye Mandle, outgoing President & CEO. “I’m so proud of the work we’ve done, the Board we’ve assembled and the exceptional team that works every day to distinguish our community and organization. This is certainly bittersweet for me. I will forever be grateful for my time at Medical Alley and for the support and friendships I have received and built in Minnesota. I’m excited to see Medical Alley’s continued growth and impact.”

The Medical Alley Association will be conducting a national search to select Mandle’s successor.

“Medical Alley is excited to begin the search for the unique leader that can build upon what we have done and lead us to our ultimate goal – being recognized as The Global Epicenter of Health Innovation and Care™. Medical Alley leaders have an opportunity to drive the future transformation of healthcare and our new leader will play a key role in that realization,” said Board Chair Rogers.

Steffen Hovard, former Chair of the MAA Board of Directors, is returning to serve as the organization’s Interim President & CEO, overseeing the leadership transition. “Medical Alley is truly unique and I am deeply committed to this community’s success,” said Hovard. “The organization will continue to drive healthcare transformation and execute on our key deliverables to our members as we transition to our next leader.” Hovard’s service will begin immediately.

“Steffen is a perfect fit for Medical Alley to execute flawlessly during this interim period,” said Rogers. “As a former Board Chair, he knows our history, our goals and objectives and our team as well as anyone. Medical Alley won’t miss a beat with Steffen and our exceptional team.”
