Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has brought on Andrew Williams as its first director of diversity, equity and inclusion, the organization announced Tuesday.
A 20-year nonprofit sector and DEI veteran, Williams most recently served as assistant vice chancellor for student success, engagement and equity at the University of Minnesota Rochester. Before that, he served as executive director of Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs, director of Diversity Student Support Programs at the University of Minnesota and director of multicultural affairs at Carleton College in Northfield, according to his LinkedIn page.
In his new role, Williams will look to drive internal “cultural and behavior” change that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion inside Center City-based Hazelden Betty Ford. He’ll also work with the foundation’s DEI committee to help create positive change for the populations it serves, according to a press release.
“Andrew’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion has deep roots, and I am humbled that he is bringing his experience, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness to help us to reach more people affected by addiction, and to do so with cultural humility,” Mark Mishek, Hazelden Betty Ford president and CEO, said in the release.
Williams will begin his new role June 7.
