Findings From TEECAD-Guided Transesophageal Echocardiography Intubations at Mayo Clinic-Rochester to be Presented at the American College of Cardiology Conference 2025

TEECAD System provided safe and effective probe placement

March 27, 2025 – Minneapolis, MN – Visura Technologies, Inc., a privately-held medical device company dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art visualization solutions to improve the safety and success of transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) probe intubations, announced today the findings from a series of 115 consecutive patients undergoing TEECAD-guided TEE intubations at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  These findings will be highlighted in a poster presentation this weekend at the 75th Anniversary American College of Cardiology Conference (ACC) in Chicago – Real-Time Visualization During TEE Probe Placement Supports First Pass Intubation Success With No Adverse Events (Poster 1127-69, authors David Harmon, MD, Kathleen Young, MD, Jared Bird, MD, and Sunil Mankad, MD).

This data represents the experiences of multiple TEECAD physician users on patients undergoing TEEs from January 2023 to September 2024 with indications including complex valvular disease and structural heart interventions. In all procedures, TEECAD was used to visualize the esophageal inlet and perform the esophageal intubation, including TEE probe placement. All cases were successfully intubated with zero adverse events or complications reported.

“The addition of visualization to TEE intubation definitely helps physicians to advance the TEE probe with more confidence as they make their way to the esophageal inlet and ultimately through the inlet,” said Sunil Mankad, MD, Professor of Medicine and Co-Chair of Education, Division of Cardiovascular Ultrasound at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. “The integration of TEECAD into our TEE toolkit plays an important role in improving TEE workflow efficiencies and helping to reduce TEE-related complications.”

Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) intubations are usually performed blind using only tactile perception and can lead to esophageal injury or failed intubation, especially in high-risk cases.  TEECAD is the world’s first disposable camera designed specifically for cardiologists to use for real-time visualization during TEE intubation. Compatible with leading US TEE probe systems, it connects seamlessly to the probe providing physicians with images of the esophageal inlet and surrounding structures during intubation for more efficient and effective probe placement.

The full poster will be presented by Dr. David Harmon on Sunday, March 30 from 9:00-10:00am CT at ACC 2025 at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois in the South Hall, Session #1127.
