Female-founded, MedTech Digital Health Start-Up Wins Innovation Award with At-Home Diagnostic
Minneapolis, Minn., October 12, 2020 — Checkable Medical has been awarded $10,000 through a Securian Financial-sponsored award to support innovators working to improve and enrich the lives of families and whose ideas make it easier to put family first. The award is a part of the MN Cup, an annual statewide startup competition hosted by the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
Checkable Medical’s unique at-home testing platform takes a highly accurate, easily self administered test kit and pairs it with a mobile application for training on how to take a sample, interpret the test results and connect with a telemedicine provider for both COVID-19 antibodies and Strep Throat. Each Checkable Medical test is a lateral flow test, which has the same process of a pregnancy test, the most widely adopted diagnostic test. By providing at home tests, Checkable Medical helps to reduce the burden on the healthcare system and minimize exposure to the population by those expressing acute symptoms.
Currently, the company is in the clinical evaluation phase for the Checkable Medical COVID-19 At-home Rapid Antibody Test and the design freeze phase for Checkable Medical At-home Rapid Strep Test. The Checkable Medical COVID-19 At-home Rapid Antibody Test will be available for purchase in 2020, with Checkable Medical At-home Rapid Strep Test coming in Q4 2021.

The award was presented on September 22 at the 2020 MN Cup Final Award Ceremony hosted at the University of Minnesota’s McNamara Alumni Center.
