Bone Foam, Inc., a global leader in surgical and rehabilitation positioning products, announced the acquisition of the Troop Elevation Pillow (TEP) product line from CR Enterprises, LLC.
Based in Frisco, TX, the Troop Elevation Pillow portfolio focuses on an innovative positioning system that optimizes airway management for obese patients coming to surgery. Invented by Dr. Craig Troop, the product line was born out of the need for a standardized protocol to help align the patient’s airway axes using the head- elevated laryngoscopy position (H.E.L.P) prior to the induction of general anesthesia.
The acquisition strengthens Bone Foam’s standing as an industry leader in patient positioning in hospital and surgery center markets, as well as broadens its reach into Anesthesia applications. “The Troop Elevation Pillow has become the gold standard for anesthesiologists and CRNAs by providing a stable, predictable, and easy-to- use positioner. The TEP is available as a disposable or vinyl covered reusable version for everyday use in the operating room setting,” said Peter Cole, VP of Corporate Strategy at Bone Foam. However, use of the TEP is applicable wherever an airway is being managed – ICU, ER, OB, and IR. “This product line is synergistic with our existing portfolio and advances our mission to provide the highest quality positioning devices that improve safety and efficiency for our patients and providers.”
“Bone Foam is emerging as a leader in offering quality and innovative medical positioning products for patient care. The company is focused on providing effective solutions to current and challenging medical practice needs. The TEP is designed to improve and facilitate airway management of today’s high risk overweight patients. I am confident that Bone Foam will further my goal of making the TEP available in every surgical suite across the USA and around the globe,” said Dr. Craig Troop, co-founder of CR Enterprises and inventor of the Troop Elevation Pillow.
The TEP fits with the objective of Bone Foam’s line of products. The company’s goal is to provide positioning solutions that are easy to use, stable, and consistently yield a predictable result. These positioning solutions are centered on improving patient safety and maximizing operating room efficiency for all medical providers across orthopedics, spine, and now, anesthesia.
