Minneapolis, July 1, 2020 – Central Package and Display announced it completed the first round of production on protective packaging for the Coventor ventilator. Working in conjunction with Boston Scientific, Central Package and Display designed and produced foam inserts and a corrugate shipper that will allow the Coventor to be shipped globally via LTL freight, as well as individual shipments via parcel delivery service.
An interdisciplinary team from the University of Minnesota developed the Coventor as an alternative to the standard intensive care unit ventilators, which are in high demand and short supply during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Coventor is not considered a replacement for high-end ventilator technology, but is another available option while supplies of traditional ventilators are catching up from the recent increase in demand.
“We were challenged with producing internal and external protection for a robust unit that could be shipped around the globe in any number of different ways,” said Central Package and Display CEO Mike Haglund. “Our team of structural designers went to work fast to develop a number of prototypes for review and once we settled on the design; we immediately began manufacturing the components.”
“The timing on the project was incredibly fast and delivery requirements were intense,” Haglund said. “We take great pride in being a small part of the process that brought the Coventor to market. We hope we made a difference for someone experiencing extreme symptoms from Covid-19.”
