July 22 Update: Minnesota Emergency Executive Order 20-81 dictates that, starting on July 25, all Minnesotans over the age of five are required to wear face coverings that cover the nose and mouth completely in indoor spaces and businesses, and anywhere social distancing is not possible for workers working outside.
Additionally, businesses must update their COVID-19 Preparedness Plan to address these new requirements and take several steps to ensure compliance with the mandate by both staff and customers, and the details from the Minnesota Department of Health can be found here and here.
To promote the mandatory wearing of face coverings, businesses can find resources, such as poster size graphics, social media images, and window decals here, as well as here under the #MaskUpMN Materials section.

June 5 Update: On June 5, Governor Tim Walz signed Emergency Executive Order 20-74, which requires all businesses to have developed and implemented a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan by June 29, 2020. While this plan does not need to be submitted to the state, all businesses are required to have a plan that outlines the policies and procedures the business has implemented to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its employees and customers.
To ensure that businesses have guidance on how to develop these plans, the Stay Safe Minnesota website has COVID-19 Preparedness Plan guidance and industry-specific templates for employers to utilize.
Additionally, businesses may request a free Workplace Safety Consultation to assist in the creation and/or implementation of their plans. To request a Workplace Safety Consultation, an employer can call the Workplace Safety Consultation phone number at 651-284-5060 or 800-657-3776, email [email protected], or submit a request online.
