Medical Alley Association Backs Sen. Klobuchar’s Push to Repeal Medical Device Tax
Minneapolis, MN – Medical Alley Association thanks Senator Amy Klobuchar for her leadership on permanently repealing the medical device excise tax. The Protect Medical Innovation Act, introduced by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Pat Toomey (R-PA), has bipartisan coauthors, including Minnesota’s Senator Tina Smith (D-MN), and wide support on both sides of the aisle.
“We are grateful to Senator Klobuchar for her bill to once and for all repeal the medical device tax,” said Shaye Mandle, President & CEO of Medical Alley Association. “Medical device companies have been subject to great uncertainty because of this tax, limiting their ability to invest in the life-saving research they’re capable of producing. Senator Klobuchar has Medical Alley’s full support in this effort.”
The certainty of a full repeal will give medical device companies much-needed relief, resulting in investment that enables these innovators to produce more life-saving devices that patients need, improving health outcomes for patients around the world.
Medical Alley Association also thanks Senator Tina Smith for signing on to this legislation as a coauthor, a welcome move that signals her support for Medical Alley, the global epicenter of health innovation and care.
