Eden Prairie, Minnesota (October 14, 2020) – Starkey is proud to sponsor AuDacity 2020’s student education activations, happening this Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17. The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) has partnered with Independent Audiologists Australia and Independent Audiologists New Zealand to host the two-day-long event filled with virtual panel discussions, presentations, workshops and exhibits.
“Connecting with audiology students is one of the true joys of my job, and I’m so excited to have this opportunity to support them at a time when the hearing industry is transforming before our very eyes,” said Starkey Chief Audiology Officer Sara Burdak, Au.D. “The COVID-19 pandemic has put telehealth on a fast track and artificial intelligence is creating an on-demand patient experience, all of which is drastically changing the provider-patient relationship. I look forward to sharing what we’ve learned, so far, during this unprecedented year that will no doubt have a lasting impact on our industry for decades to come.”
Burdak will lead an industry leadership panel on Friday. On Saturday, Starkey President and CEO Brandon Sawalich and Chief Health Officer Archelle Georgiou, MD, will join Burdak and other audiology presenters for a three-hour dedicated student session. Starkey Chief Innovation Officer Dave Fabry, Ph.D. will also lead a workshop on the basics of telehealth and the benefits it provides. Other sessions include information on falls and balance training, as well as demonstrations of Starkey’s latest technology.
Throughout this year, Starkey has released more industry-first technology, including the world’s first and only 2.4 GHz custom rechargeables, which have helped many hearing aid wearers in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, because they won’t fall out when removing a face mask from behind the ears.
