Lakeville, Minn. — Hinckley Medical, a pioneering MedTech startup in the emergency medical services industry, has successfully closed a $1.1M Seed funding round, led by an investment group from Pennsylvania. Specializing in hardware and software solutions for prehospital dosing errors, Hinckley Medical is poised for significant growth and development.

Founded by Tristen Hazlett, whose inspiration stemmed from a family member’s experiences in paramedic services, Hinckley Medical is at the forefront of addressing critical cognitive and weight estimation errors in emergency medical scenarios. The company has pioneered the development of the first-ever patent scale designed for widespread use in prehospital settings. Additionally, they have created a revolutionary software designed to eliminate common cognitive errors frequently encountered in EMS. This innovation is particularly vital in pediatric care and the administration of sensitive behavioral health medications such as Ketamine and Fentanyl. Tristen Hazlett is joined by Co- Founder/CTO Colton Hazlett and Co-Founder/COO Michael Elsbernd, whose collaborative efforts have led to the creation of an advanced mobile application. This app streamlines dosing calculations and provides essential treatment references in urgent care situations. Under the clinical guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abe Campos, Hinckley Medical is charting a new course in emergency medical solutions.

The seed funding will drive expansion across sales/marketing, quality/manufacturing, and software development sectors. Since acquiring its first customer in April 2023, Hinckley Medical now serves clients in five states and continues to expand rapidly.

Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a decrease in stress and medication errors.

“Weights are essential in EMS (Emergency Medical Services),” Gary Ronzheimer, Muscatine Fire Red Shift Battalion Chief and the Training and Operations Supervisor, said. “When we are inaccurate up to 20 percent of the weight, we run the risk of overdosing or underdosing a patient when giving critical medications.”

Hinckley Medical separates themselves in the industry by innovating directly on customer feedback.

“We keep our finger on the pulse of the industry.” Said Tristen Hazlett Founder/CEO of Hinckley Medical. “There’s not a day that goes by that were not asking to our clinical advisors what we can do to better solve their problems”.

With additional support from innovation grants from the State of Minnesota, Hinckley Medical stands at the forefront of revolutionizing emergency medical care, making significant strides in enhancing patient outcomes and provider efficiency.
