Via Ecolab
For decades, Ecolab has taken pride in helping healthcare providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and other customers who provide essential goods and services address big challenges and succeed in good times as well as in difficult times.
As a global leader in infection prevention solutions and expertise, Ecolab has a vital role to deliver the products our customers need to keep their critical operations running.
Since early January, Ecolab has been working with customers in China and throughout the world to help reduce the risks associated with the coronavirus pandemic. And today, the company is working around the clock to meet unprecedented demand for its hand sanitizer and surface disinfectant products.
Ecolab produces several hand sanitizers and surface disinfectants that can be used against the novel coronavirus, including 13 products EPA includes as effective disinfectants against the virus.
Demand for some of these products has increased up to 15 times over normal volumes. Much of that demand is coming from industry segments like healthcare, life sciences companies, food and beverage companies and grocery stores. Ecolab products are also being used to keep vital services like power plants and data centers operational, safe and clean.
To meet this demand, Ecolab’s manufacturing plants are running at full capacity to help meet customer needs.
Meanwhile, additional safety measures are being implemented to help keep employees and customers safe. Ecolab has also expanded safety precautions for suppliers and third parties that are delivering needed materials to our plants or transporting finished products.
Beyond the Product: Ecolab’s COVID-19 Expertise
Ecolab’s infection prevention capabilities have been built through decades of research and global, on-the-ground experience supporting a wide range of industries.
In addition to delivering essential products, Ecolab is providing guidance and training on proper cleaning procedures to help customers reduce COVID-19 risk. Industry-specific guidance, tips from experts and other resources are also available online and through the Ecolab field team.
Helping Others Meet the Challenge
- Ecolab was able to quickly help a major hotel in New York re-open to provide rooms only to medical professionals assisting NY hospitals, nursing home and clinics, providing guidance on proper procedures around guest check-in, stay and check-out, as well as providing the needed products, training and on-site support.
- Ecolab Healthcare is providing ongoing technology support and data analysis to a Hand Hygiene Compliance Monitoring System customer by ensuring they have visibility to proper handwashing and sanitizing insights that allow them to make critical decisions on proper COVID-19 isolation room protocols, disease containment and workflow.
- Ecolab’s Textile Care team in Portugal helped a customer who had previously only done hotel laundry, upgrade its processes for hospital disinfection. They did this important work remotely, within 24 hours.
- A military base in Italy reached out to an Ecolab laundry customer with a request to wash and disinfect military uniforms. The laundry staff was at home, quarantined, so Ecolab provided the laundry owner with step-by-step guidance on the disinfection process. Italian soldiers are now wearing the disinfected uniforms as they assist the population.
Without a doubt, the world has changed. While Ecolab continues to ramp up operations to meet today’s demand, the company is also committed to continuing to support customers’ critical operations in the long term.
