Principal Software Engineer


Primarily responsible for developing software/firmware and its associated documentation per established quality system procedures. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams to meet product and project requirements; collaborating with engineers from a variety of companies and industries. You will also have the ability to mentor junior engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writes software requirements based on system requirements
Creates and updates Software FMEAs
Follows IEC 60601, IEC 62304 (Class C), and ISO 13485 standards
Leads software prioritization efforts and coordinates software activities in a team environment
Performs scheduling activities and communicates schedule to management and customers
Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
Coordinate and facilitate software team meetings
Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system
Translates software requirements into software architecture and design
Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation
Consults with customer concerning maintenance of software system
Coordinates configuration and release of embedded software/firmware
Lead and coordinate unit, integration, and software system test activities

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering
Master’s Degree in Engineering is a plus
Eight to thirteen years of experience, preferable in the medical device field, including 3 years principally writing embedded software
Experience utilizing IEC 60601, IEC 62304 (Class C), and ISO 13485 standards
Utilize C/C in an embedded environment running RTOS or Bare Metal Experience with using a unit test framework
Understanding of basic electronics, computer architecture, microcontrollers, etc.
