Diversified Plastics, Inc. Supports Region’s Startups as First Sponsor for Medical Alley Starts

October 11

Medical Alley, MN –  Diversified Plastics, Inc. (DPI), a custom plastic-injection molder and digital manufacturer of close tolerance parts, is advancing its support for Minnesota’s medical device startup community through a co-sponsorship of Medical Alley (MA) Starts. This program grants vital production services to early-stage medical device companies.

DPI has partnered with MA Starts to offer a grant valued up to $7,500 for engineering and Acceleration Station™ production services. DPI’s Acceleration Station™ quickly produces high-quality, end-use plastic parts. These services, including the Carbon® Digital Light Synthesis™ (DLS™) additive manufacturing process, deliver production and prototype components in days, not weeks, without tooling.

The Carbon DLS process is up to 100 times faster than traditional 3D printing methods. Acceleration Station protocols adhere precisely to each company’s specifications, performance and safety standards.

“Diversified Plastics understands the importance of building a stronger Medical Alley startup ecosystem – more jobs, more wealth creation, and most importantly, more people’s lives saved and improved,” said Frank Jaskulke, MAA’s VP of Intelligence and head of MA Starts. “Medical Alley Starts is honored to have them as our first sponsor partner.”

“We’re thrilled to be collaboarating with MAA to support burgeoning startups,” says Kevin Hogan, CEO of DPI. “The MA Starts program’s mission to lower the costs of starting, scaling and pivoting new ventures in health innovation is synergistic with our core value for giving back to the community and the industries we serve.”

Grant recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • A medical device startup developing a class 1 or class 2 product with plastic as a primary material.
  • Have developed a business plan and initial management team (can be fractional or full time).
  • Initial product concept is developed sufficiently where prototype production, engineering and design for additive manufacturing will advance the business.

Applications for the DPI MA Starts Grant will open on Monday, October 11, 2021 and close on Friday, November 19, 2021. For more information, please visit divplast.com/starts.
