Diversified Plastics, Inc. Has Been Selected as One of Four Finalists in the 2020 Processor of the Year Award

January 16

MINNEAPOLIS—Diversified Plastics, Inc. (DPI), a custom plastic-injection molder and digital manufacturer of high-precision thermoplastic components, has been selected as one of four finalists in the 2020 Processor of the Year Award. The Processor of the Year Award is a prestigious award in polymer technologies that honors companies with superior achievement in their industry, community and operations. The winner will be announced at the February 24 – 26, 2020 Plastics News Executive Forum.

“It was an honor to be nominated for this award by Carbon, Inc.,” says Kevin Hogan, chief executive officer of Diversified Plastics, Inc. “We are excited to be recognized as one of four finalists among the thousands of injection molders in the United States. Owned by our employees through an employee stock ownership plan, we earned high marks for employee relations. In addition, our investments in the Carbon® Digital Manufacturing Platform and our Acceleration Station services are being emphasized as strengths by the award judges.”

Judges for the Processor of the Year Award are members of the Plastics News editorial staff. Candidates for the award are judged based on seven criteria: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry/public service and technological innovation.

DPI has nearly 100 employees, including four of the original team of 13 employees that still work at the company. Employees have seen stock prices increase by 72 percent in the past three years, and revenue per employee is up 12.4 percent. At the end of 2018, DPI joined the Carbon Production Network and added three Carbon M2 printers. Carbon Digital Light Synthesis™ (DLS™) technology became the backbone of its Acceleration Station™ services, which deliver a faster path to market for its customers. DPI also acquired Pacific Plastics Injection Molding in Vista, Calif. at the end of 2018.

“We see additive manufacturing being a significant portion of our business in the near future,” says Hogan.

As part of the award process, Plastics News judges contacted several DPI customers. In these interviews, customers noted that DPI is a trusted supplier and partner with expertise in moldability, uniformity, consistency and materials. One of the customers has been working with DPI for over 40 years, since the company’s beginning.
