With successful agreements to bring Medical Alley’s influence to Australia, Denmark, and several regions in Europe already in place, the Medical Alley Association was pleased to welcome a delegation from Health Cluster Portugal and Pool-Net to explore a mutually beneficial arrangement that will facilitate the growth of both regions through intentional collaboration.

The afternoon session on June 7 was initiated by Medical Alley Association Foundational Member Medtronic and featured remarks from numerous members of the Medical Alley, Pool-Net, and Health Cluster Portugal communities. Of particular note among the speakers were the Portuguese Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Domingos Fezas Vital, and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias.

Throughout the session, it became clear that there were ample opportunities for Medical Alley companies to find traction in Portugal and for Portuguese health technology companies, particularly manufacturers, to find partners here in Medical Alley. As such, at the conclusion of the session, a Memorandum of Understanding between the three organizations was signed, formalizing the agreement and marking the beginning of what is sure to be a positive relationship.

“Medical Alley was honored to host a diplomatic and business delegation from Portugal in collaboration with Medtronic,” said Kathleen Motzenbecker, senior vice president of Medical Alley. “International partnerships help us to expand our reach as the global epicenter of health innovation and care.”

We are grateful to Medtronic for catalyzing this connection, to our new Portuguese partners for joining with us to bring world-class healthcare solutions to patients all over the world, and to the rest of the Medical Alley Association members, whose expertise and leadership is what makes these alliances possible.
